HEARD, Basil Claud Christmas, Private, (Press cutting calls him a signaller) died 23/10/1916 enlisted Henham. Service No. 40078, Essex Regiment 2nd Battalion. Killed in action, France & Flanders. He was fighting at Les Beouf around Dewdrop and Zenith trenches in the afternoon. It was reported in the Essex Newsman on 25th August 1917, that having listed as wounded missing in action in October 1916, it is presumed he has been killed.
