This page relates to the ancestors of John Baker who was born in Henham in 1740 and married his wife Elizabeth Harris also born in Henham in 1743. They married on 20 May 1765 at St Mary’s Henham. John’s occupation was a plough servant working for a local farmer and lived in a thatched cottage in the village. They had eight children:

John and Elizabeth died within five months of each other, John on 6 February 1827 aged 87 and Elizabeth on 10 July 1827 aged 84. They are both buried at St Mary’s cemetery Henham.
John their second son married Millicent King who was born in 1777 in the nearby village of Broxted. They married on 24 October 1798 in St. Mary’s the Virgin at Broxted. They lived at 4 Browns End, Broxted. This was the home for three generations of Bakers. John and Millicent had seven children.
